Abstract
It is assumed that R. K. Narayan has based his novel The Dark Room on the basis of the theme of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. There are certain points to accept this assumption that make us to find out the similarities in the theme and the characters. However, it is significantly different in its treatment and views expressed in Indian context, rather than it implies the modern trend of feminism. Surprisingly it is noted that both the writers were not ready to be labeled with feministic, both were humanistic.
